What is prayer?

Prayer is the most important activity of our lives.  It is the main way in which we develop a relationship with God.  It is a relationship rather than a ritual.

When we pray, it is not to others, or to ourselves, but to God.  So prayer is how we can all communicate and build a relationship with God, the creator of the universe, our father in heaven.

Why pray?

We have already seen that prayer is about building a relationship with God.

How good would your relationships be with your friends and family if you never talked or listened to them?

The more we communicate the better that relationship becomes.

How should we pray?

Remember prayer is our relationship with God; therefore we should try and talk freely with Him.  Sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start.  Why not try and keep it really simple?

If you are struggling, remember the abbreviation for Teaspoon – TSP.  This can help you form a simple, yet effective way of praying.  When we are praying they are there to remind us of three main things that we should include our prayers:

T = Thank you

S = Sorry

P = Please

These three things should also keep our relationship with him on the right track.
